Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is the difference between SRPG Studio EX and SRPG Studio (original)?

A. The default runtime files (default assets) provided are different. EX version runtime files have been increased in size, and some image size standards have been updated.

Q. Can EX version read original project files?

A. It can read them if certain limitations are met. The limitation is that the original project file must not use images from the original runtime files.

Q. What should I do now to smoothly migrate projects under development in the original version to EX version?

A. Export runtime images and re-import them as original images. By repeating this process, you can reduce your dependency on runtime files to nearly zero.

Q. Are plugins used in the original version compatible with EX version?

A. 90% of plugins are expected to work without modification. Since EX version has an upsized user interface, UI-related plugins may require some modifications.

Q. What are the benefits of using EX version?

A. The biggest advantage of EX version is the large amount of new tilesets available. This allows you to create games set in non-fantasy world settings.

Q. What new features are planned for EX version?

A. Currently, it has been decided that a battle layout feature will be added, allowing customization of battle screens. Rich JSON editor and parameter file import support are also planned.

Q. How will the original version be handled after EX version is released?

A. The original version will aim to be a truly stable version with reduced update frequency. Software updates always carry the risk of introducing bugs. The original version is valuable for users who want to continue stable development without encountering bugs. Original version updates will be limited to discovery of critical bugs and special updates.
